SUMMARY:Summer ChildFirst™ Training in Fort Wayne
DESCRIPTION:June 8-12\, 2026\n\n\n\nClasses are 8-5 Monday-Thursday and 8-2 on Friday\n\n\n\n\n\nParticipants in this ChildFirst™ training can expect to gain comprehensive skills and knowledge essential for conducting forensic interviews with child abuse victims. The training is designed to enhance the abilities of multidisciplinary teams\, including law enforcement officers\, social workers\, prosecutors\, forensic interviewers\, and child protection caseworkers and DCS attorneys. \n\n\n\nYou will learn\n\n\n\n\nChildFirst™ Forensic Interview Protocol: Participants will be trained in the ChildFirst™ Forensic Interview Protocol\, which is a structured approach to interviewing child abuse victims.\n\n\n\nChild development: Understanding the developmental stages of children and how it impacts their communication and memory.\n\n\n\nMemory and suggestibility: Learning about how children’s memories work and how to avoid leading questions that could suggest answers to the child.\n\n\n\nLegal issues: Gaining knowledge about the legal aspects of child abuse cases\, including testifying in and preparing children for court.\n\n\n\nHolistic approach: Exploring all forms of maltreatment and taking a comprehensive approach to interviewing and supporting child victims.\n\n\n\n\nParticipants experience and conduct\n\n\n\n\nLectures and discussion: Engage in lectures and discussions to understand the theoretical aspects of forensic interviewing.\n\n\n\nRecorded interview reviews: Analyze recorded interviews to learn best practices and common pitfalls.\n\n\n\nSkill-building exercises: Participate in exercises designed to build interviewing skills and practice techniques.\n\n\n\nMock interviews: Conduct mock interviews with actors playing the role of abused children\, followed by critiques to improve interviewing techniques.\n\n\n\nAn exam: Participants must pass the exam in order to receive a certificate of completion.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$800\n\n\n\n\n\nYour registration includes: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll reference materials\n\n\n\nA leading facilitator and trainer\n\n\n\nFree parking\n\n\n\nLunch on Monday (the following days are on your own)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA certificate of successful completion\n\n\n\nRefreshments available through the training\n\n\n\nOther necessary supplies\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo successfully complete this course you must: \n\n\n\n\nPass the exam at the end of the week\n\n\n\nAttend the entirety of the training\, every day
